Meet Howard
Howard Austin. Dipl TCM (Syd) Cert TCM (China) SBO-TCM, EMR
Howard Austin is a New Zealander and a nationally accredited practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He maintains a busy TCM practice in Oberwil, Switzerland and through his affiliated business Red Dragon Events presents seminars and workshops on subjects related to Chinese medicine.
Howard was first introduced to the healing power of plants while working as a beekeeper throughout the native forests of New Zealand. As a result of his desire to learn the art of Acupuncture and his keen interest in medicinal plants, Howard decided to pursue a career in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
Prior to beginning his studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine Howard attended Nature Care College in Sydney where he gained his Diplomas in Swedish and Remedial Massage.
In 1997 Howard completed his Diploma of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at the Sydney Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in NSW, Australia.
Howards training in TCM also included an internship at the Red Cross Hospital in Hangzhou, China where he undertook advanced training in Pain Management, Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Internal medicine.
Prior to moving to Switzerland with his family and establishing Basel Acupuncture, Howard developed and managed a successful group Natural Therapies Practice for over 12 years on Sydneys lower north shore.
In 2010 having completed studies in Western Medicine at Bio-Medica in Zurich, Howard gained his A level registration with the SBO-TCM (Swiss Professional Organisation for Traditional Chinese Medicine) and was accepted as a professional member with the EMR (Experienced Medical Register)
Howards wealth off experience along with passion and commitment to his work has enabled him to successfully treat thousands of patients of all ages with a variety of acute and chronic health problems. Disorders such as allergies, insomnia, migraine, digestive disorders, PMS, infertility and chronic pain.
Howards principle aim is to help his patients reach their fullest potential with less pain, less stress and more vitality through the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He is a Canton licensed practitioner of TCM and speaks English and German.
